Who Dat Talkin?

Last week’s Blog, “The Under-Inflated Tire” (You can Click Here to read it if you haven’t yet), I talked about the Holy Spirit speaking to us to guide and protect us through our day. This week I’m going to take you on a journey of receiving a specific word from God for your day or for a specific situation.

You’re Gonna Be Amazed…

First… I need to say… if you don’t think you are “qualified” to hear from God, you’re wrong. Set aside condemnation, shame, rejection and guilt. God doesn’t condemn you (Romans 8:1) so why should you condemn yourself? So… now that we have that thrown in the garbage, let’s see what God wants to tell us today. I’m going to do this exercise with you as we go along so you can see each step of the process.

Here’s step #1

Take a few minutes to just be quiet and ask God to bring to your remembrance a story or scripture he wants to speak to you through. I am waiting… Okay…

The story God brought to my mind is the story of Jesus standing in front of Lazarus’ tomb and telling Lazarus to come out of the grave. (If you want to read the complete story, it’s in the book of John chapter 11.)

Here’s step #2

Don’t rush this part… ask God where or who you are in the story. I am waiting… Okay…

In my spirit, God is saying I am the person Jesus commands to help Lazarus remove his grave clothes after he has come out of the grave. (If you want to see my character, I’m in verse 44.) God tells me, “Unbind him and let him go.”

Here’s step #3

Ask God what He is teaching you, or telling you from the story. Here’s what he is telling me…

“Unbind!” “There are people in your circle of influence who have or want to enter into a relationship with me, but are still bound up in condemnation from things they have done in their past lives. Their grave clothes of condemnation, guilt and shame need to be removed to set them completely free to understand how much I love them. I’ve called you to help unbind them from their grave clothes and show them a new life of victory and freedom from condemnation.”

Final step #4

Application... I now take the word God has given me and begin putting a plan into place to give me “unbinding” opportunities. “Wildmen Life” was birthed out of sharing my story of freedom from condemnation, giving people I meet a resource to understand the crippling effects of condemnation and how to be set free to fully embrace God’s love and plan for them… to realize they were born to live wild and free.

What I have just taken you through is known as a “Personal Prophetic Word” or “PPW”. The scriptural foundation for the PPW is John 10:27, “My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me” along with 1 Corinthians chapter 14, where Paul talks about the value of the gift of prophecy in edifying the church. In verse 5 of this chapter, Paul says, “I wish that all of you could speak in tongues, but I would rather have you prophesy. He who prophesies is greater than one who speaks in tongues, unless he interprets, so that the church may be edified.” God’s desire is to give us personal prophetic words so we can edify the body as we share them with who He brings us in contact with each and every day.

If you’re in a place...

In your life where you believe God doesn’t love you, or is mad at you, or ashamed of you, jump over to wildmenlife.com, read “My Journey”, listen to the audio messages I’ve presented on the site and let God pour his love all over you. Give up control of your life and ask Him to take over… to remove the grave clothes and set you free. He has plans to “prosper you, not to harm you… to give you a hope and a future” (Jeremiah 29:11).
