My wife and I recently coined a phrase, "Amazonesia"... The symptoms are, we order stuff from Amazon and, two days later, when it arrives, we can’t remember what we ordered.
So... this week...
When a long heavy package arrived from Amazon, we looked at each other in bewilderment trying to guess what we ordered. I opened the box and pulled out a long 1 1/16” gear wrench. “What did you order this for” slipped out of my mouth. “I certainly didn’t order that”, came the response back from my wife. “Well... it’s addressed to you”, which was responded to with no words... just a look of confusion...
Off to my office I went...
To look at our Amazon order history on the computer. She was right... no gear wrench on our order history. Hmmm….. Several minutes went by before I found the “chat” feature on Amazon’s customer service site. I typed into chat “we received a wrench we didn’t order and need to know how to send it back”.
I finally connected...
With a live customer service agent who asked me to provide the order number from the label on the box it was shipped in. I did... to which she replied, “No such order exists in our system”. Then she asked me to provide the UPS tracking number from the label. “No such tracking number exists in our system... we didn’t send this to you... check the return address on the label.” I typed back, “Amazon Fulfillment Services”. After waiting a few minutes while she asked her supervisor what to do, she came back online and typed in the chat, “We don’t know what to tell you, but we have no record of ever sending you this wrench. So, you can keep it, give it away or throw it away. We don’t want it back”. After thanking her and telling her I would keep it, I put the wrench in my toolbox and discarded the box.
Two days later...
I was at church for our weekly prayer time. Our pastor opened our time together by asking anyone if they had any special word from God they would like to share. As I bowed my head to seek God for anything He wanted me to share, I received a strong and immediate answer back in my spirit, “Tell them about the wrench I sent you”. Wait a minute... what? God used Amazon to send me a wrench? Really? What on earth for?
That’s when I decided I needed to be quiet before the Lord and let Him tell me why he sent me a wrench...
Boom!
Like a bomb going off in my heart... Matthew 18:18...
“Assuredly, I say to you, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.”
Binding... Loosing...
What a wrench is used for! I realized he was telling me I wasn’t being bold enough in my prayers. I needed to bind the enemy and his assignment on my life... my wife... my family... my ministry... our church... our community... our nation. Then loose the power of love, unity, health and prosperity over all of the above! He told us in John 14;14, “If you ask anything in My name, I will do it.”
I now have the wrench...
Jesus sent me through Amazon prominently displayed on my bookshelf next to my desk to remind me daily to be bold in my prayers... to ask Him in his name and He will do it. He said he would. If I am bold in my requests, He will be bold in his answers! If I bind it, He’ll bind it! if I loose it, He’ll loose it!
He sent me a wrench to confirm it!
